Pinterest...today's post is about Pinterest!! I was sucked into Pinterest about a month back..it did take me a long time before I jumped on the train and checked out all that it has to offer. Pinterest provides a place of sharing pics that you love and want others to see and enjoy!! It's really an awesome place to be apart of.
Recently it was brought to the light that Pinterest has become or "has always been" a "Pin It At Your Own Risk" kind of sight. Many of you, like myself did not read the fine print. Well, it is so important that we as Wedding Pros, Brides, Grooms, fashion gurus, Moms and Pinterest lovers around the world must read the fine print. A photog created a post giving the details of why she deleted her Pinterest Account. This post is definitely a must read because she really breaks down the legal meaning so you can make your "Pin It at your own risk" decision on your own.

As for me and my Pinterest..I have not decided to delete my account, but I am going to take the time to delete some boards and make sure I am sticking to the rules!! I stopped pinning for about 2 weeks or so because of this and last night I started again. I am "pinning at my own risk", but trying to make sure I follow all the rules while doing so!
So read, read and read so more and decide if you will be "pinning at your own risk" or simply deleting your account!

Sincerely,
It's a great way for business owners to showcase their products and services. However because it's so easy for a plagiarist to steal content and crop out images, it turns what should be a fun medium for sharing into something ugly. I have also ceased pinning until we can solidify our company's permissions process and hope to be back at it within the next couple of weeks.
ReplyDeleteYes, it really is unfortunate that we can't all play together and admire the greatness without stealing. I am being careful as well...it's just so unfortunate, it really is!!! Smart decision to cease pinning..better to be safe than sorry. I need to go back to no pinning because I did get sucked in for a moment last night..lol.
DeleteGreat information. I had not entered into the Pinterest frenzy, but was thinking about doing it, but never "finding the time". I can definitely see the pros and cons about the site from companies and businesses.
ReplyDeleteThanks Stacy. Yes, these articles provided a lot of great insight!! I enjoy pinning, but also enjoy not being sued for it..so yea! lol
DeleteI have deleted most of my boards and kept up two. One for books I like and one pertaining to my business. I wrote in the description a disclaimer that states I claim no ownership for what I re-pin(mostly what I do) and if someone feels that I have "stolen" or infringed on their work to please contact me ASAP.
ReplyDeleteThat was very smart. I also mostly repin so that is a good way to alert others that repin also!! Very Cool! :-)
DeleteLove the idea...would be nice to get an invite...have waited and waited...but shame that they would limit it to invites...
ReplyDeleteBy the time I get one...everyone will be onto the next thing...
What a shame
